Ghana’s HR Regulator CIHRM Partners with SHRM to Elevate Workforce Standards and Global Competitiveness

Accra, Ghana — In a move poised to reshape professional human resource standards in Ghana, the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (CIHRM) has entered into a landmark partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) — the world’s leading authority on workplace strategy and HR excellence.

The collaboration, formalized through a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), represents a significant milestone for Ghana’s HR ecosystem, enabling local professionals to access SHRM’s globally recognized certifications, research insights, and educational tools at affordable rates.

SHRM’s global footprint spans 340,000 members across 180 countries, impacting more than 362 million workers and their families. The partnership is expected to boost the capacity of Ghana’s HR professionals, enhance leadership in workforce management, and align local practices with global standards.

“This partnership is a significant milestone for the HR community in Ghana. By joining forces with SHRM, we are equipping our members with essential tools and resources to drive progress and empower our workforce,” said Dr. Francis Eduku, Chief Executive Officer of CIHRM.

Over the past two years, SHRM has played a pivotal role in the Global Conference on Human Resources in Africa (GCHRA) in Accra, a key platform for connecting African HR leaders, executives, and innovators. The renewed collaboration reinforces Ghana’s position as a hub for HR innovation and strategic workforce development on the continent.

Under the agreement, HR practitioners in Ghana will gain structured access to SHRM’s professional learning network, research, and digital resources — a major leap for professionalization in a rapidly transforming labor landscape.

Established under the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana Act, 2020 (Act 1020), CIHRM is the sole legally mandated body regulating HR practice and standards in Ghana. The partnership aligns with its mission to ensure HR excellence through regulation, education, and global integration.
