GOIL Extends Targeted Fuel Price Relief, Matches NPA Floor Price for Petrol

GOIL PLC has announced a further targeted fuel pricing intervention, matching the National Petroleum Authority (NPA)–approved floor price of GH¢9.99 per litre for petrol (PMS) and extending discounted diesel (AGO) prices across 200 selected GOIL outlets nationwide.

The state-owned oil marketing company said the initiative is deliberately structured to shield vulnerable segments of society—including commercial drivers, public transport operators, farmers, traders and low-income households—from rising transport and food-related costs.

According to GOIL, the selected outlets have been strategically positioned along major transport corridors and around key commercial vehicle terminals, ensuring that the price relief reaches areas where cost pressures are most intense.

Cushioning Consumers Amid Upward Price Pressures

GOIL’s intervention comes at a time when prevailing market indicators suggest that fuel prices should ordinarily be trending upward. The company’s decision to align petrol prices with the regulatory floor and offer additional diesel discounts underscores its commitment to easing cost pressures while remaining fully compliant with NPA pricing guidelines.

The company stressed that credible price relief must be practical, transparent and deliverable, noting that meaningful reductions begin with pricing at or below approved benchmarks rather than public commentary.

By matching the NPA floor price for petrol and extending further relief on diesel, GOIL said it continues to set the standard for responsible competition in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

Quality Assurance Maintained

GOIL emphasised that the pricing intervention does not compromise fuel quality.

“GOIL’s products continue to meet and exceed regulatory specifications and are enhanced with advanced performance additives, ensuring engine efficiency, durability, and superior value for money for customers,” the company said.

The assurance is aimed at dispelling concerns that lower prices might come at the expense of performance or engine protection.

Supporting Transport, Food Distribution and Household Costs

As Ghana’s indigenous and trusted national oil marketing company, GOIL said it remains committed to balancing commercial sustainability with socio-economic responsibility, particularly during periods of economic adjustment.

The company expects the intervention to help stabilise transport fares, reduce the cost of moving food from farms to markets, and moderate prices of essential goods, offering broader relief across the economy.

GOIL has therefore encouraged motorists and transport operators to take advantage of the reduced prices at designated GOIL stations, as it continues to deliver on its promise of quality, reliability and competitive pricing.

The company reaffirmed its mission to provide “Good Energy”—energy that is affordable, dependable and impactful—to power Ghana’s growth and support the everyday lives of its people.
