Ghana Has No Load Shedding, Power Supply Stable – Energy Minister

Energy Minister John Jinapor has assured Ghanaians that the country is not experiencing load shedding and currently has sufficient electricity generation capacity to meet national demand.

In a Facebook post on Friday, January 30, the Minister stated that he had met with leadership from key power sector agencies to evaluate the state of electricity supply across the country.

“Ghana has gone more than 10 months without load shedding and is not facing any power generation deficit,” Mr. Jinapor affirmed.

Localised Power Outages

The Minister acknowledged that certain areas, particularly Accra and Kumasi, have experienced frequent power outages.

“These outages are due to operational challenges within the system and not because of insufficient power generation,” he explained.

He stressed that these issues are technical and operational, not linked to a shortfall in generation capacity.

Government Actions

Mr. Jinapor has directed relevant agencies to develop and present a clear, time-bound plan to resolve operational challenges and restore a stable electricity supply in the affected areas.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing reliable and uninterrupted power for all citizens, assuring the public that measures are being implemented to address the outages promptly.

“We are taking all necessary steps to ensure a stable electricity supply across the country,” the Minister said.
